| Vila do Bispo has it’s foundations in ancient times having been inhabited by Carthegans, Moors, Romans and even with relics dating back to the bronze and iron ages. The area includes such historic monuments as the fort at Sagres and the magnificent lighthouse at Cape St. Vincent – the most powerful lighthouse in Europe, keeping the busy shipping lanes warned of the perils of the cliffs – as well as some stunning bays and beaches, a permanent attraction to surfers of all ages. |
