| Portimão is the second largest city in the Algarve after Faro and sit on the mouth of the Arade river opposite the picturesque fishing village of Ferragudo. The city has been constantly developed over the last 10 years particularly and is now home to a magnificent Marina, also now a popular venue for National and International water sports and other events. |

The thriving town of Portimão has a busy pedestrian commercial centre incorporating old with new architecture, such as small Algarvean homes and many high and lo-rise apartment blocks.
The main shoreline of Portimão is called Praia da Rocha (Beach of the Rocks), a wide, long, flat stretch of sand with a backdrop of stunning cliffs. |

| Rocha is a much loved resort, supplying vibrant night life, including the casino, a variety of cuisine and shops. The majority of accommodation in this area tends to be apartments or hotels, but one doesn’t have to go very far to find some magnificent luxury villas in the area. Just west of Portimão is the charming fishing village of Alvor, home to the famous Alto Golf resort, combining challenging golf with luxury villas, townhouses and apartments. |

| There are various bays and beaches hidden among the cliffs from the end of Praia da Rocha all the way to Alvor, and a stunning stretch of fine golden sand fronts Alvor, framed by rolling dunes and hills of Monchique as a backdrop. |
